THE EDO NOTH DRAMA, REASONS WHY THE EXERCISE IS IN FUTILITY

The PDP is surely learning new things from the Iyocha Ayu led National Executive Committee. Never in the history of the party has there been so much confusion and blatant rape on the constitution of our party. A party that once pride itself as an epitome of due process and organized leadership has suddenly found itself as a huge joke.

For the first time in its history, PDP went into primaries without any published delegates list. This is because the Chairman has so much compromised his integrity that he could not do the right thing.

The latest joke was the “emergency rerun of the Edo North Senatorial primary “. There are obvious reasons why any court of competent jurisdiction will throw out the exercise into the dustbin.

First and foremost, the authentic INEC monitored delegates, voted for Hon. Pascal Ogbome as the Senatorial candidate of the party. Same adhoc delegates voted for the National delegates who went ahead to vote for the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar. Unless anyone wants to put ‘k-leg’ ( apologies to Obj), on the candidacy of Atiku Abubakar, that is when you can question the candidacy of Pascal Ogbome.

In a rerun, you cannot introduce a new aspirant. The introduction of Senator Francis Alemekhina rendered the exercise a nullify.

By the provisions of the PDP constitution, only the NEC can order a rerun. The NWC has no such powers.

Under the functions of the National Officers, only the National Secretary can communicate the decision of NEC or NWC to any external body like INEC. The letter signed by the NOS., Umar Bature, is defective and I am sure cannot be honoured by INEC.

Once again, the National Chairman has gotten another mugu and cashed out. Like the issue of the National delegates, Ayu and co know that this exercise will not see the light of the day. Senator Francis Ailemekhina has just fallen mugu.
