Shaibu Charges Journalists
On Balanced Reportage, as GT Foods Berths in Edo NUJ Press Centre

The Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Friday charged journalists to do more on investigating journalism and to always balance their reports for the sake of the unity of Nigeria.

He urged media houses not to magnify the activities of kidnappers and other violent crimes.

Comrade Philip Shaibu gave the advice at the official commissioning of the new GT Foods Plaza located at the premises of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council in Benin city.

He lauded the new executive of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, (NUJ) Edo State Council led by Comrade Festus Alenkhe for the various programmes and activities so far initiated .

Speaking, Shaibu went down memory lane. “If not for journalists, by now, I would have been forgotten, nobody could have thought who is Comrade Philip Shaibu, but because one of your colleagues played an important role in my release during my days in the school.  So, I will remain grateful to the pen pushers, I will for life be grateful to journalists, and will continue to partner with the media.
I want journalists to always balance their reports and please, stop magnifying the activities of kidnappers, the amount people pay as ransom.”

He commended the Managing Director GT Foods Plaza, Elder Pius Omofuma for his contributions to the development of Edo State. “Your business expansion across the nooks and crannies of the country is a testimony to the fact that Edo State is secured for business to strive.

“Government needs people like you, and will continue to encourage others to come to Edo State to do business of their choice; we need champion leaders who don’t only think of themselves alone but for the wellbeing and good of the other people. Government alone cannot fix our country, together we can fix Nigeria,” he charged

Going further, the GT boss said Edo State NUJ under the leadership of Comrade Festus Alenkhe is doing marvelously well, “I saw myself as part of NUJ” and I want to appreciate the chairman and his executive for releasing the space for GT Plaza to establish the eatery.
