Serial Killer medical doctor arrested after killing cab driver in Edo State

An alleged serial killer medical doctor who claimed to be a staff of General Hospital in Kalama, Kwara State, has been arrested after allegedly murdering a taxi driver.

Abbas Adio Adeyemi Adebowale allegedly murdered Emmanuel Agbonviwere, 39, in Benin city and stole his cab.

Standard Gazette gathered that Abbas dumped the body of his victim by the bush side and drove the car to Ede, in Osun State.

How it happened:

Adebowale came to Benin city to sell a car and rented a cab to return to his state. He asked the driver to meet him at a Government Reserved Area (GRA) hotel in Benin City.

Unknown to Emmanuel that his passenger had planned his demise with a lethal injection.

It was gathered that Emmanuel died on the spot, and Adebowale dumped the lifeless body on the roadside along Benin-Akure Road before driving the vehicle to Osun State.


Police got wind of the matter after the driver’s family, worried sick as he did not return home and, after several unanswered calls, contacted the police.

Using high-level technical intelligence, the officers trailed the suspect to Osun State, where he was arrested, and the stolen Toyota Corolla car was recovered.

Standard Gazette gathered that Adebowale refused to give an account of the incident; however, he pleaded with the police and the deceased’s family to forgive him.

Edo state police public Relations officer SP Chidi Nwabuzor said the police painstakingly followed up with the suspect and arrested him in Ede, Osu state.

Upon searching the car, Diazepam injection, popularly known as “velon” or “sniper,” and some used syringes were recovered.

The police medical doctor in Edo state, CSP Oyakhire, confirmed the drugs to journalists.

The deceased’s wife, Mrs Agboviwere and the elder brother Mr Agboviwere called for justice for the cab driver.

As of press time, another Toyota corolla car which the suspect came to sell in Benin city has been recovered by the police.

The police have since commenced another investigation to determine if the car was obtained using the same criminal process.
