PDP Leadership Crisis : Its unfortunate Secondus has taken the party to court–Iyasere,
…….Says seeming crisis in Edo PDP will go after the convention
A former Publicity Secretary of PDP in Edo State and immediate past member, PDP South-South Executive Committee, Prince Francis Omo-Osunde Iyasere has declared as unfortunate
the court case between the erstwhile chairman, Uche Secondus, and the leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP)
Recall that Prince Uche Secondus was suspended by his Ward in Rivers State truncating the completion of his four years tenure as the chairman of the main opposition party
The PDP is set to elect a new set of leaders at the ongoing national convention
The Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt, River State has on Friday, 29 October 2021 upheld the judgment of the High Court, which gave the party the right to go ahead with the convention in Abuja from 30th- 31st October 2021.
Speaking with journalists in Benin, Edo State, Prince Iyasere said, It is most unfortunate that Secondus, after all, he has benefited from the party will allow himself to serve as an agent to disorganize the party.
“Prince Uche Secondus has enjoyed the party, he was Youth Leader, the River State Chairman, National Organizing Secretary, Acting Chairman, and the National Chairman. But he is now in court with the party to play the spoiler’s game. It was a miscalculation on his part. It is unfortunate that he wants to still go to Supreme Court, that is a defeatist approach, he should reconcile with the leadership. The party has done so much for him and he should reciprocate that good gesture. If I were in his shoes, I would have resigned to save the party, but as it is now, it looks like he is playing the spoiler’s game, it is like he Is an agent of the ruling APC and
I appeal to him not to go to Supreme Court, but should rather dialogue with the leadership of the party.
“As the Chairman, he is member of the BOT, the BOT Chairman said he went to him to appeal that he should pull the case from court, but he refused. The party gave him an assignment, and the same party decided to withdraw him from the assignment, what is the problem with it? The right he is talking about is the right from the party constitution. If the party says maybe you have something else to do for us, but not as chairman, why can’t you accept it.?” He quarried.
On the seeming crisis in Edo PDP, he said, the problem will go after the National Convention of the party in Abuja, concluding that most of the problems have to do with the national convention. The party in Edo State has been in crises over the suspension of the South south Chairman, Dan Orbih; the Edo State PDP Secretary, Hon Hillary Otsu; Member representing Oredo at the House of Representatives, Hon Omoregie Ogbiede-Ihama and ten others.
Iyasere said “PDP is a big family, and we had always overcame any challenge we have, the umbrella is big to take everybody. The problem in Edo State PDP will be settled after the convention going on now.”
