Obaseki Inaugurates State Council of Universal Peace Federation.

The inauguration of the Inter-Religious Association of Peace and Development Committee

The Edo state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has scored another milestone in ensuring peace and safety in the state with the inauguration of the State Council of Universal Peace Federation on Thursday in Benin city, the state capital.

He pledged his support to ensure the new inaugurated council contribute their quota in ensuring a peaceful Edo state.
In his remarks the governor disclosed that the need to ensure peace and safety in the state necessitated the creation of the State Ministry for Public Security and Safety which has been directed to engage with organizations and groups especially those with track record in advancing peace and security.

The governor who was represented by the commissioner for Public Security and Safety, Omololu Ojehomon, said he will welcome efforts towards peaceful coexistence residents and visitors, indigents and strangers in the state. According to him; “Edo State Government under my leadership gladly welcomes all genuine effort and contributions by individuals and groups towards ensuring a safe and peaceful Edo State where citizens can maximize opportunities to develop themselves and their communities to the fullest.

“It is worthy of mention, that the present administration in the State has not only provided the required leadership for developing our state so that we can realize the Edo of our dreams but has also supported security organizations and agencies in the State with needed capacities, materials and logistics to realize a safe and peaceful environment for economic prosperity and social harmony.

Obaseki added, “Let me use this opportunity to thank the Universal Peace Federation for working tirelessly at ensuring that religion and other primordial matters are not allowed to divide us and destroy the bond of oneness that exist among us.

“The theme of the re-launch of the State Council of the Universal Peace Federation, “Nigeria Insecurity Affliction: The Road Map towards Peace and Hope” is apt. No doubt, the outcome of this event will assist Edo state Government in re- aligning its road map for sustainable peace.

“It is on this note that I want to thank you all for this noble initiative and implore the Edo Council of the Universal Peace Federation a fruitful and successful tenure.” He said.
