…sue for the sustainance of synergy with Edo State local vigilante network…

While it behoves on us as a responsible civil society organization to continuously engage authorities at all levels to do the need in serving the masses cum tax payers, it is also incubent on the Network (NOCSON) to commend agencies of government and individul whom have distinguished themselves in carring out their constitutional responsibilities in an era where hard work and deligence is scarce.

Edolite will agree with me that for years in Edo state in particular, there is a phobia that goes with the ember months especially December. This fear is that of insecurity. In ember months especially during the yuletide, there are always high casses of robbery, theft, breaking and entering, ritialist activities, duping, scam and killings as a result of rival cult clashes to mention but a few. On the contrary this year in Edo State, many will agree with me that Edo people could celebrate and sleep with thier two eyes closed, as Edo state was calm and free from the usual high casses of crime and criminalities.

This high reduction in crime rate during this last ember months and yuletide celebrations in 2021 is not unconnected to the hard work, commitment and strategies deployed by the current Commissioner of Police, CP Philip Ogbadu of Edo state command and the collaboration with sister agencies especially the Edo State Government initiated local vigilante network in our communities and indeed Edo people who where supportive.

Taking a close observation on our Police check points, during this period, you will agree with me that the police officers were well kitted in their uniforms, properly dressed with thier names vissible unlike we used to see before when they dressed on t-shirt, making it very difficult for the people to easily differentiate them from hoodlums carrying out thier criminal activities.

We remember vividly in your quarterly engagement with the Civil Societies in the state, in a bid to strengthen the relationship of the Police with the masses for cross polination of ideas and easy flow of relevant information that will help the command to serve Edo people more efective, the Network of Civil Society Organisations of Nigeria (NOCSON) has never failed to engage your command on the need to ensure we have a different Chrismas and New Year celebrations that will be devoid from the usual crimes and criminaalities. This is a clear indication that we currently have a Police boss at the State level that listens to the voices of the people.

While all these could best be described as the past now, we want to use this medium to charge the CP and his men to continually sustain this temple of maintaining security in the state , and increase the synergy between the police and our local vigilante in Edo State. The need to share information for the purpose of achieving one singular objective can not be over emphasized. Security should be tightened in our communities and the ever busy Benin-Auchi road, to eradicate completely casses of kidnapping and other crimes.

While it will be injustice on the part of the police for this rare achievement to go un-noticed, our Network (NOCSON) will not fail to doing the needful by heralding this good work to all.

We will not also fail to use this medium to call on all well meaning Edolites and coporate organisations to join Edo State Government to continually support the Police and Local Vigilante with more material, funds and necessary information to work efferively.

It is our clear believe on security in Edo State, that uhuru is achieveable.
