LET NO ONE BE DECEIVED; THE PDP HAS CONCLUDED ALL PRIMARIES.
By Amb. Tony Okonigene
It has become necessary to put down the position of the PDP especially as it concerns the congresses and primaries regarding Edo state and generally. There have been rumours of appeals in courts and reruns flying about. These are unfounded and unrealistic. They will not see the light of the day.
It is advisable that aspirants should not allow anyone to encourage them to continue wasting their money with the false hope of either the PDP going to court to challenge the congresses/Primaries or ordering any rerun.
By the guidelines issued for the congresses and primaries, only the returning officers can declare any process inconclusive. Once a returning officer declares a process conclusive, it remains concluded unless upturned by the NEC from the recommendation of the Appeal panel. This will be done within a time frame before the National Convention.
The highest decision making organ of the party is the National Convention. All activities of the party are deemed to have been rectified once the National Convention takes place. The endorsement of the Chief Dan Orbih’s led delegates at the National Convention, puts to rest the position of the party and the law as to who are the rightful delegates to elect the candidates of the party. Any contrary pronouncement now will put the candidacy of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at risk. His election will be a nullity.
As things stand now, the PDP cannot afford to gamble with its presidential candidate. The National Convention has endorsed the position of the Federal High Court, Abuja concerning the rightful Ad-hoc delegates to elect the candidates of the party in Edo State.
Our focus should be how to have a United PDP in Edo state so that we can face our common political foe. We cannot afford to throw away our dominance now. Both the governor and Chief Dan Orbih have high stakes to ensure resounding victories for the PDP in Edo State. We know our candidates.
