FESTUS ALENKHE’S JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE.

Festus Alenkhe started his journalism life in 1995 with Biz Push Publications, a weekly Newspaper in Benin city , Edo state.

In 1996, he joined Edo Broadcasting Service as a freelancer with news department under the Tutelage of Harrison Asemota where he participated in the popular News program ” The Correspondents Report “. He excelled as a roving reporter covering different beats.

On 2nd January, 2003, the then Governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion gave him and some other persons automatic employment as a staff of Edo Broadcasting Service.

He was still on roving beat where he covered different high profile news reports. Festus Alenkhe unearthed the outbreak of measles in Ugbogui in Uhumwuode local government area of Edo state in 2001 that drew the attention of World Health Organisation , Federal ministry of Health and Edo state ministry of health to the area.

Their intervention prevented the disease from claiming more lives in the area. He also did a report on cholera outbreak in Agenebode which called for quick intervention in the locality.

In February, 2006, he was deployed to the office of the Deputy Governor , Chief Mike Oghiadomhe as Government House Correspondent where he stayed briefly before his posting to the Defence/Security beat.

In 2007, Festus Alenkhe was sponsored by Edo state Government to Israel to cover the activities of Edo state Pilgrims who went on holy pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Jericho, Bethlehem, Jordan and Egypt.

Due to the effective way he covered the 2007 pilgrimage activities, he was sponsored again in 2008 by Edo state government to Israel for another round of news coverage, this time, the tour extended to Palestine where he did a special report on the church of the Nativity in the West Bank.

The pilgrimage activities were well reported all over the world by Festus Alenkhe.
In 2014, Festus Alenkhe was in London , United Kingdom where he observed and covered activities at the British Parliament. He also covered the British parliamentary election.

As a crime reporter in Edo Broadcasting service, he has covered both local and international news reports.

He is the presenter and producer of a Radio/TV program “CRIME WATCH/CRIME ALERT RELOADED” which he runs on both channels till date.

He has exposed so many crime related matters within and outside Nigeria.
A lot of persons seeking for justice have been assisted through his news reports where they were actually served with the right justice.

In 2015 , he took crime investigative reports to Spain and Italy where he did a special report on illegal migration.

He was in Las Pàlmas Grand Cannery in Spain where he met a young lady from Nigeria that was bathed with substance suspected to be Acid.

His report moved Nigerian Embassy in Spain to immediately intervened for justice for the young lady identified as Mabel Mark.

In 2016, he was in Vienna, Austria where he did a special report on Rose Aifuwa who was an Austrian based Nigerian that was murdered in Benin city.

The report made him to speak with the deceased family members, Security agents and other stakeholders contesting the murder in Austria.

In 2018, he was in Padova, Italy where he did a report on the murder of a Delta born businessman in Padova.

His report moved ltalian police to ensure heavy prosecution of one principal suspect called Benjamin Christopher.

His report ensured justice for the killer of the Nigerian. Today, the accused has been jailed after been convicted for murder.

In September, 2018, Festus Alenkhe was in Dallas Texas where he investigated the murder of the former president of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy with a visit to the spot where he was assassinated. He had an interview with a man who saw the attack directly in the year 1963.

He also unearthed the murder of a Director of NPDC , Mr Isigunyo that was murdered along Sapele road in Benin city.

The deceased wife and a pastor fingered in the murder were arrested by the police and charged to court. They are now serving life jail term.

In May, 2020, he was the first to report the rape and murder of One Miss Vera Uwaila Omozuwa that led to the arrest of some people.

He earned an award from Barrister Olayiwola Afolabi Chambers in Benin city for his acute investigative reports and the exposure of the rape and murder of the 100 level student of the University of Benin.

He has reported so many criminal matters in Edo state, Nigeria and the world at large.
Festus Alenkhe authorised Standard Gazette , an online news portal in London to publish his crime reports from Nigeria. That is foreign export of news reports.

Festus Alenkhe hold a Diploma Certificate in Broadcast Journalism from New York Film Academy ,a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of Benin and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja.

In August, 2003, Festus Alenkhe was trained by the Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria on Radio Reports.

In 2008, he also had a media training from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

In 2006, he served as Auditor of the Edo Broadcasting Service Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and now the current Assistant secretary of the Chapel.

In 2020, he was appointed by the Congress of the Edo NUJ as chairman subcommittee on Security/Surveillance where he has helped in restoring sanity to the press center till date.

In August, 2021, he was selected by Edo state government on a one month training on Communication Strategy at the instance of Edo Communication Organisation, an arm of Edo state government.

Festus Alenkhe is on the engagement of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions of the Edo state ministry of Justice as prosecution witness on the authority of the Edo state police command, using electronic evidence during prosecutions in court.

In February, 2021, Edo state government promoted Festus Alenkhe to the position of controller News, Edo Broadcasting service. Since January, 2003, the financial dues of Festus Alenkhe have been paid to the Nigeria Union of Journalists , Edo state Council till date.
