EDO PDP SYMPATHIZES WITH THE VICTIMS OF LAGOS STREET INFERNO
We, the members of the State Working Committee of the PDP, Edo State Chapter, on behalf of the entire PDP family wishes to state it was with a heavy heart that we received the news of the fire incident that gutted stores and houses of traders and residents of the Lagos Street in Benin City two days ago.
As you are all aware, the Lagos Street is predominantly a trading hub in the state metropolis. Hence many of the victims are traders who undeniably lost goods worth millions of naira to the incident. Majority of the traders are women who are our mothers and wives who are essentially the home keepers. Thus, they all deserve our sympathy.
In this trying times of the nation’s economy losing a naira is a huge loss how much more losing one’s means of livelihood. Times are hard, my dear family.
In the light of the above, we deem it necessary to reach out to the victims of the inferno and express our heart felt sympathy. The PDP Edo State Chapter feels your pain at this crucial time of the year. You are part of our family. What affects you, affects us.
More so, it is our sincere conviction that the Edo State Government and all concerned Local Government Areas in the state can do more to stem these perennial market fire incidents in the state. We therefore call on the security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force, to carry out proper investigations to unravel the causes of these incessant fire incidents in our markets.
We say accept our sincere and heart felt sympathy.
Ogie Aigbe Vasco,
State Publicity Secretary.
