EDO NUJ FLAG OFF FIRST EVER MULTI- PURPOSE COOPERATIVE SOCIETY
In a bid to improve on the welfare of journalists in Edo state, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council comrade Festus Alenkhe JP has officially flagged off the first ever Edo NUJ Multi- Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS).
The ceremony which took place at the premises of the Nigeria Union of journalists Edo state council secretariat GRA Benin city witnessed a large turne out of journalists.
Comrade Festus Alenkhe called on journalists in Edo state to take advantage of the cooperative society and register in other to enjoy the benefits.
“Today l want to officially flag off the first ever Edo NUJ Multi- Purpose Cooperative Society (MPCS), all our Executive members will take the lead by registering first and other journalists will follow”.
The Coordinator, Edo NUJ Multi- Purpose Cooperative Society, Mrs Marvellous Imoisili thanked comrade Festus Alenkhe for the confidence on her and vowed not to fail in discharging her duties.
She urged journalists in the state to register with the sum of One Thousand (#1,000) Naira and one passport photograph that the Cooperative Society money will be paid between 26th and 27th of every month while state and federal salary earners will be giving up to first week of the month to pay their dues.
According to Mrs Imoisili, Edo NUJ Multi- Purpose Cooperative Society has come to stay. Some journalists interviewed commended comrade Festus Alenkhe for setting up the cooperative society. They said the move is in fulfilment of his electioneering promises during the Edo NUJ election campaign in December , 2021.
