Edo Government To Cater For Elderly Persons.

The Edo state government said a policy expected to cater for the Elderly Persons in the state is on the way, as it has already been designed in the first term of the Godwin Obaseki administration.


The Honourable Commissioner for Social Development and gender matters, Mrs. Maria Edoko, disclosed this on Thursday, when she paid host to a team of the St Monica Home For The Elderly, led by it’s Senior Partner, Dr. (Mrs)Pat Onuwaje, at her office in Benin city, the state capital.

Edeko further disclosed that Governor Obaseki, is passionate about the Elderly and is determined to get the policy working which will see to the better care of the Elderly Persons in the state. She appealed to the people for patient assuring them that the policy will soon be approved and signed to become functional in the state.

The Commissioner commended St Monica Home For the charitable gesture promising to visit the home soon and see how the state government can help the NGO.

Speaking earlier, the senior partner of the NGO, Dr. Onuwaje, said they were in the Commissioner’s office to first congratulate her on the new appointment and pray with her, then use the opportunity to invite her to the one day seminar been organized by the NGO in Conjunction with Elderly Persons Association of Nigeria, EPAN, holding on the 9th of November, at the Baptist conference center West Circular Road Benin city.

She added that during the seminar gifts as well as off the counter medications will be shared to Elderly Persons.
