Edo Central Senatorial: South-South Governors, Stakeholders Back Onolememen
In Uyo, the capital city of oil-rich Akwa-Ibom came a piece of cheering news on to the Onolememen for Senate Campaign Organisation Thursday that governors and PDP stakeholders from the South-South region have thrown their weight behind the senatorial ambition of Dr. Mike Onolememen CON.
The former minister of works who was present at the South-South Stakeholders meeting on Tuesday was received with a loud ovation by everyone who was present according to an aide to the Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who spoke to our correspondent in Uyo.
According to the source who pleaded for anonymity, Chief Nyesom Wike, Udom Emmanuel, Ifeanyi Okowa and Duoye Diri, Governors of Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Delta, and Bayelsa all assured the former minister of their support and encouraged the National Vice Chairman, S/S, Chief Dan Orbih to ensure that Onolememen gets the party`s ticket for the Edo Central senatorial.
She said: “Onolememen had a good time in Uyo with party leaders when he visited and participated in the stakeholders meeting, and I think it was good that he was here for the meeting, I can assure you that he has gotten the blessings of the leaders of our party in the South-South for his senatorial ambition.
“Recall he was a former colleague of Gov Wike in the administration of Goodluck Jonathan and they have maintained that relationship since then, and the Governor took particular interest in the move for the leaders to back Onolememen who they acknowledged to have been loyal and supportive to the party”. he added.
