EBAKOTA CONDEMNS ATTEMPTS TO ARM TWIST DELEGATES IN ESAN CENTRAL LGA.
.. assures party executives that nobody can change them
The Ebakota Movement has condemned the attempts by some desperate party leaders in Esan Central Lga to arm twist the statutory delegates in the wards to vote for some preferred aspirants in the coming primaries. Some party leaders seeing that they are fast loosing followership after collecting cars and much money from some aspirants, have resorted to threatening the delegates with removal of their names from the lists if they fail to agree to vote for the aspirants being brandished by the leaders.
Addressing members of the Ebakota Movement in Esan Central Lga on Wednesday, the President, Amb. Tony Okonigene, described the latest move by some of the leaders as a sign of desperation. He encouraged the party executives to be steadfast in their independent choices saying that the constitution of the party as well as the people are solidly behind them.
Amb. Okonigene while addressing the members of the movement said; “It is unfortunate that some persons claiming to be leaders have resorted to using arm twisting tactics in their desperation to deliver their aspirants after collecting cars and huge sums of money from them. They have realized that they do not command the followership they projected to the aspirants. This is political Yahoo Yahoo.
I want to assure you that the PDP in Edo state, under the leadership of Chief Dan Orbih, is committed to ensuring free and fair primaries across and you are the delegates that will decide for the party those that will be its candidates. Do not allow anyone to intimidate you with removal of your names. If they had such powers, the harmonization they embarked on would have succeeded but thanks to our national leader, Chief Dan Orbih, their moves crashed.”
Earlier, some of the ward chairmen had complained of some leaders intimidating the statutory delegates in their wards saying that the leadership of the party in Esan Central has endorsed some aspirants for the various positions and any delegate who fails to key in will be removed.
