Domestic Violence: Man Kills Wife In Benin Over N80,000

A man has been arrested in Benin City, Edo State, following the death of his wife.
Monday Olomu, 53, was arrested around Airport road on Thursday, 04 November, 2021.
The couple has been married for 25years.
The trouble started on the 22nd of October, 2021 when Monday refused to account for N80,000.
His wife, Odion Odarogue Olomu had given her husband the sum of N155,000 for domestic needs and Monday only spent N75,000 which resulted to an argument as the husband refused to account for the balance N80,000.
The husband doubled down, knowing he had no way of giving account, leading to serious fight.
Standard Gezette gathered that the angry husband pushed the wife the wife, who fell and hit her head on the concrete floor.
Our Source learned that Monday did not immediately assist his wife, who was unconscious and died minutes later.
On Thursday, the husband was arrested by policemen from Evbuotubu police division and transferred to state police Investigation Department.
In an interview with Standard Gezette Correspondence, Olomu said, “I actually asked her to use her money to handle some issues in the house, and her paid her a part of it.”
“I was shocked she came one night and started worrying me to pay her the balance and I don’t have money.
“I never wanted to kill her. The government should pardon me, and I am regretting it now”.
Contacted, Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bello Kontongs, who confirm the incident, said, “men should be careful when they have quarry with their wives at home. Learn to be patient.”
SP Bello Kontongs assured that the husband would be charged to court for murder after investigation.
