Amb. Ojiefoh Flags off Construction Work On Irrua Market Drainage System
…… Advises Against Indiscriminate Disposal Of Refuse.
The leading Edo State House of Assembly Aspirant for Esan Central Local Government State Constituency, Amb. Ojiefoh Enahoro Jr, of the People’s Democratic Party PDP has flagged off the construction of the drainage system in Irrua main market.
The aspirant who is also the sponsor of the project was at the market in Irrua the administrative headquarters of Esan Central Local Government Area, on Friday to inspect the ongoing work and advised residents, market men and women against indiscriminate disposal of refuse after the job is completed, adding that it will prevent further blocking of drainages and avert flooding.
Amb. Ojiefoh who spoke while monitoring the work, noted that the desilting of drains and drainages must be done from time to time to allow for the free flow of flood to the right channel.
The House of Assembly hopeful disclosed that the flood and erosion challenges experienced in the market and its environ was due to lack of drainage system and the indiscriminate disposal of waste in unauthorised places by some people.
According to him, “Residents, traders and shop owners must ensure prompt and proper desilting of drains in market premises. They should notify the local government authority so that the silts can be evacuated on time,” amb. Ojiefoh said.
