149 killed in Edo road crashes in 2021, says FRSC
The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Henry Benamaisia, has said 149 persons died in different accidents that occurred in the state in 2021.
Benamaisia, who disclosed this on Wednesday in Benin, said the victims died in 235 accidents that happened across the state.
He said, “A total of 1,434 passengers were involved in the 235 crashes in the state; 149 died, while 521 were injured in the accidents.”
The sector commander said there was a decrease of 13.9 per cent in the number of persons killed in 2021 as against 2020, when 176 died.
He attributed the accidents to speeding, route violation, dangerous driving, drunk driving and road sign violation, among others.
